1. Overview
Build-A-Bookie ("we") provides a website (including the commissioner desk at build-a-bookie.com) and a mobile app that share one Firebase backend. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you use those surfaces.
2. Data we collect
Account
Email address, display name / username, authentication identifiers from Firebase Auth, and profile fields you choose to set.
Book activity
Books you create or join, roster names, invites, events, bets, placements, scores, standings-related fields, and role flags (e.g. admin, claimed roster spot).
Technical
Device and app diagnostics via platform defaults; website session cookies used to keep you signed into the desk; IP and request metadata as processed by our hosting providers.
Contact
If you write via Contact, we receive the name, email, topic, and message you submit.
3. How we use data
- Operate Books, settlement, standings, and invites
- Authenticate website desk and app sessions
- Improve reliability and prevent abuse
- Respond to support and press requests
- Comply with law when required
We do not sell personal data. We do not use your Book activity to run real-money gambling products.
4. Firebase and processors
We use Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, and related services) to store and process product data. Hosting for the website may include Vercel or similar. Email delivery for Contact may use a provider such as Resend when configured. Each processor acts under their terms and our instructions.
5. Cookies and sessions
The website desk uses an httpOnly session cookie after you sign in so pages can load while authenticated. The app uses Firebase Auth persistence on device. We do not run third-party ad trackers on public company pages as part of this product design.
6. Sharing
We share data with service providers who help run the product, when you ask us to (e.g. invite links you send), or when required by law. Public league boards you choose to publish may show standings and Book names you configured as public.
7. Retention
We keep account and Book data while your account is active and as needed to operate the product. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us; some records may remain in backups for a limited period or where we must retain them for legal reasons.
8. Children
The product is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to object to certain processing. Email hello@buildabookie.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.
10. Security
We use industry-standard provider controls (Firebase security rules, HTTPS, session cookies). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date on this page will change when we do. Continued use means you acknowledge the updated policy.
